Dance Lynchburg parks and recreationBreakdancing

Now is your chance to learn all the super fresh dance moves you been wanting to do! Bboy DirtyRoc brings 7 years of experience in the hip-hop scene to help you learn how to do some of the foundational movements of breaking while also learning about the history and culture of one of the most popular hip hop dance styles. This is a youth and adult class, no experience is needed. Register by the Sunday before.

Martial Arts, Lynchburg Parks and RecreationMartial Arts Workshop

Curious about martial arts? In this one-time workshop, students are introduced to codified systems and traditions of combat practices, which are practiced for a variety of reasons: self-defense, competition, physical health and fitness, entertainment, as well as mental, physical, and spiritual development in a fun environment suitable for youth and adults.

Dance Lynchburg Parks and RecreationPopping Workshop

The focus of this workshop is to provide each person with the exposure and key components that make up the dance style of popping as a whole. There will be supplementary styles explored that are used to accent popping. Get ready to move, laugh, and burn energy with this 2 hour popping crash course! This workshop will end with a dance cypher where each person will have the opportunity to freestyle, use movements learned, or movements created “on the spot” as we engage with the music played.  Register by the Monday before.

Stoller FitnessStroller Fitness

This classes caters to all fitness levels: pregnant moms, new moms recovering from pregnancy and experienced moms with one or two stroller-aged children. With baby and stroller in hand participants will learn cardio drills, strength training exercises and stretching increases overall fitness.

ZumbaZumba PM

A total workout, combining great elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy, and a serious dose of fun every time you go to class. Classes will be held on Mondays or Wednesdays from 5pm -5:45pm at Templeton Senior Center. Register and pay monthly by the first class. No class 1/18.

Yoga at Lynchburg Parks and RecreationYoga

In this dynamic, gentle class, classic yoga poses are practiced with an emphasis on alignment with options for modification. This class welcomes teens and adults ages 16+ and will be held on Wednesdays from 7pm – 8pm at Miller Center. Register by the Sunday before.

Dance Lynchburg Parks and RecreationLearn to Clog

Learn the fundamental steps of clogging, from which all other steps are formed. By the end of the class, students will know a short string of clogging combinations. Clogging shoes are not required. Register by the Friday before.

For Seniors

Fifty Plus Wiffleball with Lynchburg Parks and RecreationWiffleball

Enjoy this indoor version of softball as you exercise, compete and prepare for the outdoor season. These co-ed games are focused on fun, fitness and friendly competition. Wiffleball will be held indoors at the Pleasant View Baptist Church Gym from 9am – 11am on Wednesdays.

Indoor PickleballPickleball

Discover the fun of indoor Pickleball! It’s a great racquet sport, which combines the elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis, and gives you the opportunity to stay fit and have fun. The speed of the ball and the size of the court make this an ideal game for the 50+ crowd. Register and pay monthly by the first day of play. Pickleball will be held indoors at the Pleasant View Baptist Church Gym from 2pm – 4pm on Thursdays.

Fairview Fitness

Start the year right! Enjoy this low impact, self-paced classes with a fast, upbeat routine that helps trim and tone. Register by the first class. Classes will be held at Fairview Center on MWF from 11:45am to 12:30pm with Instructor Jan Baker.

Yoga at Lynchburg Parks and RecreationYoga For Seniors

This self-paced class combines stretching, breathing, and holding postures. Yoga for Seniors will be held at Templeton Senior Center on Tuesdays from 8:15am – 9:05am. Register monthly by the first class.

How Do I Register?

Registration for classes and activities can be done in one of the following two ways.

1. IN PERSON Visit our offices at Miller Center, 301 Grove Street, between the hours of 8:30am and 5:00pm to register in person. One of our friendly customer service staff members would be happy to assist you.

2. ONLINE Most of our classes are available for online registration. Activities with special registration instructions (for example, adult athletic leagues) will be notes in the activity description. If you have any issues navigating online registration, feel free to call us at (434) 455-5858 and we will be happy to walk you through it.
