History
In 1862 Samuel Miller donated 18 acres of land to the City of Lynchburg to be held “…in trust as, and for a public Promenade and Pleasure Ground for the use of the citizens of Lynchburg, and Strangers, and visitors temporarily sojourning there.” Those original 18 acres became City Park, the first public park in Lynchburg. Renamed Miller Park in honor of Samuel Miller, the park has changed in many ways throughout its long history.
